1 day workshop in exciting Las Vegas: Creating a Children's Photo-Picture Book.
There is little doubt that Children's books are the most sought after commodity in the publishing world at present. A major publisher accepted Dr. Shield's first attempt at a children's picture book within two weeks of submission. "Don Quixote and the Windmills" was originally written for (and included) his granddaughter. The idea came about when he was trying to think of some way to make productive use of a collection of photographs that he had taken in Spain at the location of Don Quixote's famous windmills.
Through the use of some simple basic photo editing techniques that he will teach you,you will have your first Children's full color picture book ready for the publisher /printer in one amazing day!
This workshop is not for everyone! You must own and be able to use a digital camera with removal storage and a lap top computer. You must have basic computer skills! (And I mean 'basic'.) And most of all a desire to create something special in the lives of the children who read your finished work.
NOTE: Workshop and accommodation location varies due to room availability and is confirmed on booking.
Your tuition includes the following.
Complete photo-editing software.
Complete hands on instruction from Dr. Peter J. Shield PhD, international award winning photographer/author/broadcaster and archaeologist.
Refreshments and Lunch Box.
An optional full color proof of your finished Children's picture book within a week of your return home.

"Thank you for the lovely workshop with you in Las Vegas. Your hospitality was overwhelming. I left feeling that I had made two new friends. It was great fun seeing Vegas with 'locals'. Rose, your personality made every outing fun. Please send those photos.
The workshop was very instructive and I left with wonderful knowledge that I will use (am already using) to photo-illustrate some of my own stories. I had not considered doing that. I wrote a wonderful story several years ago, hired an illustrator, and was horrified at his illustrations. The story was, regrettably shelved. I have since pulled it out, and I am planning my photos.
Also, I have rewritten The Lovely Alligator to include two young girls so that I can give this to my two seven year olds for Christmas. I'll send you the link, or if you have access, the project is labled two cousins seek the lovely alligator---that is not the name of the book. Kept original name. I cut and pasted the second girl onto the bench with the first!!! I'm proud of that.
Additionally, I have writted a story for my grandson about owls and a southern swamp burning. Based upon actual facts of 4 summers ago. What I do need to flush out the story are photos of our Mystic Falls animals. They are the ones warning everyone about the burning swamp, thus helping save the animals, especially the owl family. Could you, or would you, Rose, share some of your photos with me? I thought you did a wonderful job taking those pictures. Again, thanks for a wonderful workshop all around. We'll stay in touch. This remarkable work is still on show in St. John’s Co-Cathedral. The fourth largest unsupported Dome in the Europe, the spectacular parish church of Mosta, where a purported miraculous event took place during world war II, when a 500 lb German bomb plunged through the dome as over several hundred congregation sat silently in prayer. It bounced on the floor but failed to explode!
